Future Climber

Lucas found some of my webbing from my rock climbing gear, and it became his new favorite toy. He tied the dining room chairs together, tied up his toys, dragged mom around the house, and love getting tied up himself. It is funny how he finds one item, as silly or random as it can be and will play with it for hours. I ended up putting the webbing away because I worried a lot about him playing with it when I wasn't in the same room giving him my full attention because he is only two and could really hurt himself. So it has now mysteriously disappeared. It was fun while it lasted. I think he will be a great climber one day. He climbs all over Dad and is getting good about shifting his body weight. His strength is getting good too. I think in a year he will be ready to try out a gym, we'll have to practice at the park for now. I don't think he'll quite get tying knots, but by five he'll be able to learn some of the basic ones.

Fun Night Out

There is a program here called Parents as Teachers, it comes through the public school system and is designed to help early childhood development. They have all sorts of fun activities and one of them was Big Truck Night. Lucas had a blast. There were all sorts of trucks, and a few treats, and a blow up jumping house thing. We thoroughly enjoyed it. I was grateful it was a night when Adam had no meetings so he could go with us because it involved a lot of lifting, and I am just not up to that right now. It was fun to see him run frantically from truck to truck. It was also really good because there were lines for him to wait in, and we are working on patience right now. It is a lesson he is learning pretty easily.

Firetruck

School Bus

Air force Transfer Truck, this thing was really, really huge.

September ends in a blaze of glory

Kristen (my friend and future running partner) threw our other good friend Erin a baby shower. They had little Brock Maxwell Last week. It was super fun to get everything ready, then gab with the girls. I love baby showers. If you have a baby, I will come. Anywhoo, it went well and she got spoiled, so she had plenty of cute clothes and stuff for her super cute little boy.

Life has been super busy the last few weeks for me. I have been living in five minute intervals between moving sprinklers so my lawn will grow. We finished worked with a bobcat and a lot of time with a rake to get it ready to plant, but we finally did and it is growing, pictures to come in a future instalment.

To fill the five minute intervals I have busy, busy Lucas to keep me on my toes. We have been encouraging him to dress himself, and sometimes it doens't always work out ideally, but I want him to independent, and proud of the job he does. So here he is after his work. The shirt is inside out and backwards, and the shorts a backwards too. I actually left him like that because I didn't see any harm in letting him.

He really wanted to take a picture with mom, so we did. Awww he is so cute.

Showing the shirt on backwards.

Showing you his rock-hard abs, and oh, the pants on backwards. I asked him to show me his shorts, and this is what he did.

We went to see the exhibition called Bodies: The Universe Within last night. Very interesting. There were some parts that were very odd to me, like a man holding his own skin on a hanger-that I found a little offensive, but overall it was very educational. I enjoyed some of the cases on the sides where they showed you a diseased organ and a healthy one. My favorite comparison was a healthy brain and a brain that had suffered a stroke. It is amazing the layers of the Human Body. It made me marvel at the divine creation of me, and made me think of my growing children in a new light. I had never seen a medical cadaver before, so this was my first experience with seeing muscles and things of that sort. I also thought seeing the circulatory system was really neat, it was so delicate and intricate. We had appetizers before, and that was a risky thing to do. I am still trying to figure out how I feel about it morally. I kept thinking of the families of these men and women, and I wish I knew that they knew where the remains of their loved ones ended up, and that being on display was something that the individual wanted. They don't say much about it, and there was a dateline show that raised some questions for me. Has anyone else seen a similar exhibition, what did you think?

I found this picture of my International Baccalaureate class. I went to school for three years with the same 17 kids, it has been fun to catch up with some of them and see what they have done. Kat and Mike, my two best friends are on the far right. Please forgive the nerdiness, but that was pretty much how we were with as little sleep as we had. In case you can't tell, I am wearing a light pick shirt and I have glasses on in the photo.
No matter how many times we have gone to the Children's Museum Lucas always finds something new and creative to do. He is very creative. It made a shorter day of a very rainy, cloudy day here in Derby. Thanks to Erin and Raegan for driving. Lucas loves the bubble machine, but he got soap in his eyes while he was playing very vigorously.

Lucas is very good at picking up his toys, yesterday he actually cleaned his own room, I was very happy and things ended up where they were supposed to. He sorts everything into the right bins and even puts his books back in the right spot. I am so glad that he cares about being tidy, especially with another boy coming, hopefully his influence will wear off in due time. He enjoyed building towers then running into them, then decided the tower needed to be in the boat.

King and Queen of the Castle. The children's museum has a really neat castle, and the kids enjoyed it for quite a while.

I was tagged by my sweet sister Lalani, and I am glad because I can't think of anything else to write about

I usually: have bran flakes and bananas for breakfast, though boring is my favorite cereal, and I am ready for them this morning the tummy is a growling. Try them they keep you full a long time.
I wonder: what my second little boy will look like, and I can't wait to see what his personality will be.
I love: to be outside. I especially love to ride my bike, and am glad Lucas is starting the same habit.
I am not: good at planning things ahead of time. I tend to do things in the last two days before I need them done.
I believe: that I am where I am supposed to be, doing what I ought, and that makes me happy.
I sing: whether I am good or not, and I really enjoy it.
I don’t always: remember the right day for other's birthdays.
I argue:well, I don't enjoy arguing, and I am not very good at it.
I lose: my keys almost every time I put them down, but Adam is doing his best to retrain me.
I wish: the gestational period of a human child was a. shorter or b. more comfortable.
I listen: to Lucas play the piano while he begs for me to sing.
I am scared: people hurting my family.
I forget: half of the stuff I am supposed to do, so I have to write nearly everything down.
I am happy: most of the time, but especially while watching my family play together. Oh, and when Lucas makes it the whole day without an accident, we have gone two consecutive days with no problems! Yay!!!! Who knew it could be so quick and easy?
I tag: Kristen Hobson, Erin Bastian, and Rachelle Casebeer
